The Suunto Compass is a state-of-the art product that the intrepid trekker needs (has a global needle).  Balanced based on only the northern and southern hemispheres, the compass provides accurate readings in many northern parts of the southern hemisphere.  It also has a fixed declination scale and an ergonomic design.
